CUSTOMER DATA PLATFORM
Customer Data Platform Consulting: Turning Fragmented Data into a Real Competitive Advantage
A customer data platform promises what most data projects fail at: all customer data from shop, CRM, newsletter, app and service in one place, in real time, usable by every department. But a CDP alone doesn’t generate revenue – what matters is whether it fits your systems, your team and your use cases.
This is exactly where we advise you, independent of any vendor. We don’t sell licenses and aren’t tied to any provider. Instead, we bring 15+ years of CRM and marketing automation experience and assess the market by what will measurably move you forward – from the question of whether you need a CDP at all to going live.
Our customer data platform services
How we help you turn scattered customer data into a reliable data foundation you can activate.
We honestly assess whether a customer data platform is the right path for you – or whether a cleanly integrated CRM achieves the same effect at lower cost. Your use cases come first, not the tool.
We translate your requirements into a specification and compare the market – from composable solutions on your data warehouse to packaged suites – neutrally against your use cases and budget.
We design which sources (shop, ERP, CRM, newsletter, tracking) come together and how, and make sure identities, consent and preferences are cleanly linked into one profile per person.
We consider server location, data processing agreements, consent management and deletion concepts from the start – so your customer data platform stays legally compliant instead of becoming a risk.
We turn the unified profiles into concrete segments, campaigns and marketing automation so the data generates revenue instead of just being collected.
A CDP is only as good as the people who use it every day. We enable your team to run and develop the platform independently.
More than a tool: what a well-implemented customer data platform delivers
Our work follows a clear process – from analysis to ongoing operations. We start with a structured review of your systems, data sources and goals, derive the right use cases and only then decide on technology. The result is not another data silo but a unified customer view that marketing, sales and service can work with.
When a customer data platform pays off – and when it doesn't
A customer data platform unfolds its value when customer data sits in many systems and nobody has the full picture anymore. Typical signs:
- You maintain customer data in parallel in shop, CRM, newsletter tool and service – and none of them is the “single source of truth”.
- Marketing, sales and service work with different, sometimes contradictory customer profiles.
- You want to communicate in a segmented, personalized way, but the data for it isn’t available across channels.
- Double opt-in, consent and email preferences are scattered across systems and hard to manage in a GDPR-compliant way.
- You are planning personalization, predictive scoring or cross-channel journeys that require a central data foundation.
If this sounds familiar, a neutral look is worth it at the very least – sometimes the answer is a CDP, sometimes better CRM integration. We assess both openly.
What sets our customer data platform consulting apart
Data integration has been a core discipline for us since 2008. For you, that means:
- Vendor-neutral – our recommendation follows your goals, not a partner contract.
- 15+ years of CRM practice – we come from integrating and automating real customer data, not from slide decks.
- Revenue-focused – we measure success by use cases and results, not by the number of connected data sources.
- GDPR-safe – data protection and consent are part of the concept.
- Honest recommendations – we also tell you when an integrated CRM is the better and cheaper way.
What is a customer data platform?
A customer data platform (CDP) is software that brings together customer data from all of a company’s sources, links it into unified customer profiles and makes these profiles available to other systems – such as marketing, campaign or analytics tools – persistently and in real time. Unlike a DMP, a CDP works with known, personal first-party data and is designed for long-term customer relationships.
Put simply, a customer data platform does three things: it collects data from online and offline sources, it unifies it into a single profile per person through identity resolution, and it activates these profiles in the channels where you communicate with your customers. Its value depends on data quality and clear consent management – which is why good CDP work starts with strategy, not with the tool.
Typical questions from our clients
Questions we work on together with our clients
Do we need a customer data platform at all?
Not necessarily. A CDP pays off above all when customer data is scattered across many systems and you want to personalize across channels. If the data volume is manageable or there is already a central system, better integration is often the faster and cheaper way. We answer exactly this question honestly with you at the start.
Which CDP fits our systems and use cases?
The market includes dozens of vendors – from lean, composable approaches on your data warehouse to enterprise suites. We translate your requirements into selection criteria and neutrally assess integration depth, total cost of ownership and operability against your use cases – so you get the platform that fits you, not the best-known one.
How do we introduce a CDP in a GDPR-compliant way?
A CDP can be operated in compliance with the GDPR – but it isn’t automatically. What matters are server location and data processing agreements, clean consent management and concepts for data access requests and deletion. We build data protection into selection and design from the start rather than bolting it on afterwards.
How do we activate unified customer data for more revenue?
A unified data foundation only shows its value through activation. We turn the profiles into concrete segments, personalized campaigns and automated journeys across your channels – prioritizing the use cases that generate measurable revenue first.

What is the difference between a CDP and a CRM?
A CRM is designed for maintaining and managing customer relationships – often in sales and service. A customer data platform, by contrast, collects and unifies customer data from all systems into a single profile and makes it available to other tools for activation. The two often complement each other; in many mid-sized setups, however, a well-integrated CRM already covers much of what others buy a CDP for. We assess this neutrally for your case.
Does my company really need a customer data platform?
Not necessarily. A CDP pays off above all when customer data is scattered across many systems, different departments work with contradictory profiles and you want to personalize across channels. If the data volume is manageable or there is already a central system, better integration is often the faster and cheaper way. We answer exactly this question honestly with you at the start.
How much does it cost to implement a customer data platform?
That depends heavily on the vendor, data volume, number of source systems and your use cases – the range goes from manageable setups to six-figure enterprise projects. More important than the license price is the total cost of implementation, operations and internal effort. We calculate this total cost of ownership transparently with you up front, so there are no nasty surprises.
Is a customer data platform GDPR-compliant?
A CDP can be operated in compliance with the GDPR – but it isn’t automatically. What matters are server location and data processing agreements, clean consent management and concepts for data access requests and deletion. We build data protection into selection and design from the start rather than bolting it on afterwards.
Are you tied to a particular CDP vendor?
No. We are vendor-independent, receive no license commissions and recommend only what fits your goals – including the option of not introducing a CDP (for now).
